The Committee

It takes a lot to get a hot air balloon festival off the ground. The Strathaven Balloon Festival Committee manages our non-profit organisation, a registered Scottish charity (SC 046563).

It is made up of a team of dedicated volunteers, interested in developing the Festival for our local community. Over the years, our team has has gained and lost members from time to time, as you would expect; we always welcome new volunteers to the group and value their ideas, ability and experience.

If you’d like to help run our annual Strathaven Balloon Festival, we will be delighted to hear from you. Do have a word with any of our stewards (Hi-Viz) or call at our HQ, in the large marquee, beside the stage.

The committee gratefully acknowledge the support from from the community and from our local and national sponsors. This support has been tremendous and has enabled us to make this an annual event.

Each year, the local bed and breakfast establishments, shops, tearooms and pubs look forward to the increase in visitor numbers, which result from the Strathaven Balloon Festival. This helps to maintain employment.

The committee has developed good working relations with other organisations in Strathaven and with the farming community, so important to Avondale.

The festival committee receives excellent support from the Police and Fire Service. In addition, the support given by South Lanarkshire Council and the local Parks staff of the Leisure Trust is greatly appreciated. We benefit also from the help of our constant partners, Cameron Balloons.

If you would like to join us and help to run next year’s Strathaven Balloon Festival, please have a word with one of our Hi-Viz Stewards, or e-mail us at info@strathavenballoonfestival.co.uk
