It takes a lot to get a hot air balloon festival off the ground. The
Strathaven Balloon Festival Committee is a
non-profit organisation, made up of a team of dedicated volunteers, interested in developing the local community.
Over the years, our team has gained and lost members from time to time, as you would expect; we
always welcome new volunteers to the group and value their ideas, ability and experience. If you’d like to
help run our annual Strathaven Balloon Festival, we will be delighted to hear from you. Do have a word
with any of our stewards (Hi-Viz) or call at our HQ, in the large marquee, beside the stage.
The committee gratefully acknowledge the support
from from the community and from our local and national sponsors.
This support has been tremendous and has enabled us to make this
an annual event.
Each year, the local bed and breakfast establishments, shops, tearooms and pubs look forward to the increase
in visitor numbers, which result from the Strathaven Balloon Festival. This helps to maintain employment.
Now in its 12th year, the committee has developed good working relations with other organisations. The festival
committee receives excellent support from the Police, Fire Brigade and St Andrews Ambulance Association.
In addition, the support given by South Lanarkshire Council and the local Parks staff of the Leisure
Trust is greatly appreciated. We benefit also from the South Lanarkshire Rural Partnership Leader fund and,
of course, from the help of our constant partners, Cameron Balloons.
