Will I Definitely see Balloons Fly? 

In the UK, balloons can only fly early in the morning and in the evening when the weather and wind conditions are at their best and most stable with no thermal activity from the sun. 

Due to the nature of ballooning there is a degree of flexibility with the timings so please be patient, it will be worth the wait, our pilot's really do want to fly! 

We will always try are hardest to get balloons flying but our pilots and crews safety are paramount.

Can i get a flight in a Balloon?

We do not provide pay-for balloon flights for members of the public. 

However we will hold a raffle over the weekend to win a flight.

Can we bring our dog? 

Well behaved dogs are welcome as the festival is held in a public park, however it is very busy and the burners of the balloons give off high pitch frequencies that can scare dogs, please consider this if you still want to bring your dog.

Can I fly my Drone?

 During the weekend of the festival the sky above strathaven is a controlled airspace, drones are not permitted to fly for safety reasons and anyone caught flying a drone will be prosecuted.

Can I bring alcohol?

No, Strathaven Balloon Festival is a family event and we do not allow alcohol to be consumed, we believe this makes the event more enjoyable for everyone.
